Top Ten Jerks, Second Edition
As all of you know by now, Warren loves a good scrap. As noted elsewhere on this little website, he adores a bench-clearing, stick-swinging brawl. Except when in the company of his family, he does not ever feel as fully alive as when he is sparring with someone. Thus his presence in the blogosphere: not only was it likely, it was inevitable.
Some of the folks in the list below are Warren's blogosphere sparring partners. Some are folks he just plain does not like.
All of them are the: THE TOP TEN JERKS IN THE KNOWN UNIVERSE, GIVE OR TAKE
- Norman Spector - Blew the ratification of the Meech Lake Accord. Mulroney patronage appointment. Did nothing to stop the al-Mashat scandal. Big tobacco lobbyist who denies being a lobbyist. Calls women "bitches," and thinks it's insight. Calls Warren "the cancer in Canadian journalism and politics." Has a web site that resembles a fourteenth-century woodcut, and has the mental acuity of one, too. Yawn.
-
- Robert McClelland - Robert McClelland - NDP blogger who writes "fuck the Jews" on his web site, and defends the use of the word "nigger". Single-handedly demeans the Dippers by breathing. Suspicion remains that he is a Red Deer Canadian Alliance member working undercover to sabotage the entire Canadian Left.
- Jan Wong – As a student Maoist in the seventies, she reported a critic of the regime to the authorities; the critic “disappeared.” As Frank magazine’s Number One Source at the Globe and Mail thirty years later, she was successfully sued by Warren for defamation, and was later censured by the Prime Minister, a Premier, and the House of Commons for defaming the entire province of Quebec. Why does the Globe employ her? Who knows – but they employ Norm “Norman” Spector, too! Go figure.
- Earl McRae - To call him a journalist would be to demean the fine work of Jayson Blair or, say, the Propagandaministerium. Instead, let's just call him what he is, which is a spit-flecked old pamphleteer who belongs in the Royal Ottawa, not a newspaper.
- Gerry Hannah – Subhumans bassist who went on to blow innocent people up as part of the Squamish Five terrorist group back in the eighties. A coward and a fool. Doesn’t like Warren, which couldn’t make Warren happier.
- The Gomery Commission – Not a person, per se. Just a multi-million-dollar, out-of-control, biased, self-mandating, despicable political inquisition that accomplished precisely nothing. (Although it did help to defeat the Martin junta, however, so perhaps it wasn’t all that bad.).
- Pretty Much Any Guest On Don Newman's Political Panel - Don's a swell guy, and so is Pat Gossage, and Tim Powers is (improbably) my Newf brother. Most of the other guests on Don's show, however, are jerks of the first order. You'd get better political insight from our 14-year-old border collie - and a better sense of the inner workings of Parliament from the milk man.
- Rob Anders - Conservative MP who, problematically, still exists. Called Nelson Mandela a terrorist. Unfit to clean out the toilets in the cell Mandela occupied for decades.
- Michael Bate - His magazine, Frank, isn't as funny as it used to be. You also have a harder time reading it for free at the corner convenience store. He is also a big poo-poo head. And, er, that's it.
