November 2007

November 3, 2007 - "Dangerous" for Brian Mulroney, more like.

The Opposition and the media should call the bluff. Don't ask for a judicial inquiry. Simply ask for a special prosecutor probe - a special prosecutor, after all, was a recent Tory promise. Then hope like Hell the government continues to stonewall. (As Warren likes to say - it's never the break-in, it's always the cover-up.)

Again, with feeling: why are the Harper Conservatives defending the most-despised politician in Canadian history? I mean, it's not like any of the ones I know actually like the guy, or anything. (Useful historical fact: Stephen Harper QUIT the party when Brian Mulroney was the leader.)

Smart Tories are telling me they know they should cut Mulroney loose. But, increasingly, it looks like they won't. Amazing.

November 2, 2007 - Don't back down, Mr. Thibault. Don't be pushed around. They've been pulling this stunt for years and I know a lot of reporters - a lot - who are eager to deliver some payback.

Meanwhile, the government continues to defend the "reputation" of the guy who received cash-stuffed envelopes in hotel rooms. Why? Why would they take that risk?

Of such things are electoral defeats made.

(Oh, and this is rich, coming from the commentator who passionately defended the various costs of Gomery. At the Star, some Prime Ministers remain more equal than others, I suppose.)

November 2, 2007 - What a stunner. She changed rock'n'roll. Shocking.

November 1, 2007Damn straight. Time to grow some yarbles, gang.
