THE MOST SIGNIFICANT "POLITICAL INSIDER" STORY OF THE WEEK

In these days of corporate media blogs and Twitter feeds and whatnot, every little bit of "backroom" stuff seems to get written up. But important things still get missed.

This mainly-missed Canadian Press story - republished by CTV - is very, very important.

Dalton McGuinty has also chosen the tried and true to lead his next campaign in selecting Don Guy, his former chief of staff and now president of the public opinion research firm Pollara.

"Guy ... is not just experienced but has proven himself as ... someone who understands the world is constantly changing and ... is prepared to adapt to what the other guy is doing."

It is important for two reasons.

One, it strongly suggests that Canada's best-ever winningest Premier, the aforementioned Mr. McGuinty, is sticking around.

Two, one of Canada's best-ever winningest campaign bosses, the aforementioned Mr. Guy, is back in charge.

We're at the more-than-halfway point to the next Ontario election in 2011. I am a very, very happy guy, because the two fellas who won for us in 2003 and 2007 are getting ready to rock'n'roll.

Four more years!
