STILL NOT DEAD

On Friday, on Power Play, Tim Powers and Tom Clark and I had a bit of a giggle at Newman's expense (no link, sorry, CTV did not post the segment, as far as I know). On camera, I held up my wrist between my thumb and forefinger. "Just checking, guys," said I. "Apparently, I'm still not dead."

Tom: "Sorry, Ezra Levant!" Much laughter ensued.

Anyhow, it's sort of mean, but - as I told the U of T class I spoke to this morning - I'm a sort of mean guy. And I admit that I do have a fondness for rattling the cages of Newman's lunatic ilk. Herewith and heretofore, here is this morning's Hill Times, talking about who's who in Michael Ignatieff's "new team," as they put it:

"Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff's New Team:

Principal Secretary — Jean Marc Fournier
Mr. Fournier is a A former Liberal MNA in Quebec and senior adviser to Premier Jean Charest.

Chief Operating Officer — Patricia Sorbara
Ms. Sorbara is a former adviser to Ontario premier David Peterson. She will oversee operations in the OLO and report directly to Chief of staff Peter Donolo.

Director of the Liberal Caucus Research Bureau and Senior Policy Adviser to the Leader — Brian Bohunicky
An Oxford educated Rhodes Scholar, Mr. Bohunicky will begin work in the OLO Dec. 7 (all other positions are effective immediately). He worked for former minister Lloyd Axworthy in the Chrétien years and has also worked as a senior civil servant.

Director of Communications — Mario Laguë
Mr. Laguë served as director of communications to former prime minister Paul Martin, indicating Mr. Donolo is drawing his team from both "camps" of the Liberal Party. He also served as a senior communications aide to former Quebec premier Robert Bourassa.

Director of Operations — Sachin Aggarwal
The young Toronto lawyer worked on Mr. Ignatieff's 2006 leadership campaign and then served as deputy chief of staff in the OLO. He is the most prominent long time Ignatieff loyalist to survive the transition to a new chief of staff after former OLO head Ian Davey was let go last month.

Director of Legislative Affairs — Jeremy Broadhurst
Mr. Broadhurst is a Toronto lawyer who has worked in the OLO since 2006.

Caucus Liaison — Karen Redman
Ms. Redman was an Ontario MP for 11 years who also served as the chief Liberal whip until she was defeated by a slim margin in the last election. She is planning on trying to reclaim her seat next time.

Party Liaison — Heather Chiasson
Ms. Chiasson is a well-liked party veteran from Atlantic Canada who is also good friends with Mr. Donolo.

Executive Assistant to the Leader — Jim Pimblett
Mr. Pimblett was Paul Martin's EA in the PMO, and also worked for Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty while he was in opposition.

War Room Chief — Warren Kinsella
Another player from the Chrétien years, Mr. Kinsella has been assisting the OLO with rapid response communications and will run the Liberal war room in the next election campaign."
