Words
Instead of all of this stuff, which voters will be smart enough to recognize for what it is, I recommend that this pledge be offered up:
Dear Parliamentarians:
I, Stephen Harper, wish to lead by example. Therefore, I pledge:
1. To transfer to the treasury all present, future and past monies the Conservative Party of Canada has or will receive from Elections Canada, as well as compensate the taxpayer for our allegedly fraudulent In-and-Out scheme, as I am confident these amounts will more than equal the amount of savings I wish to see realized;
2. To immediately waive a salary for myself, my bloated cabinet and all Conservative Members of Parliament, and to repay all travel costs recently incurred - mostly improperly - by members of my government; and
3. To restore the GST to its previous levels, which will return billions to the treasury, and ensure that I do not have a pretext to hack and slash at health care and other programs that help people in need.
